All requirements for the TEAMS Fellowship Program must be met in order to receive the AmeriCorps Education Award at the end of the service year.
A minimum of 1,700 service hours must be recorded on monthly timesheets and submitted at the end of each quarter. Training and education, such as Fall Institute or Pedagogical Seminars, are included in service hours but cannot exceed twenty percent of the total hours.
Fellows must attend all pedagogical seminars during each year of service. Seminars are designed to help Fellows build teaching skills, address critical issues in multicultural education, and network with peers and experts in the field.
Applicants must enroll at USF or any TEAMS Partners in Higher Education credential program, or a Continuing Education before being accepted into the TEAMS Program. TEAMS provides general information about credential requirements and academic advisement for Fellows.
All Fellows must conduct at least one service learning project during each year of service. Project development and grant funding are available, as well as training and support from TEAMS.
In California, TEAMS administers a special service learning initiative based on the values and teachings of Cesar Chavez. While participation in this initiative is not mandatory, it can build upon the service learning component of your curriculum. Also, modest stipends and supplies for projects may be available.
To assess program effectiveness and to comply with reporting requirements, all Fellows must complete evaluation reports for both AmeriCorps and TEAMS.
All Fellows are expected to devote a minimum of 12 hours to assist in recruitment activities for the TEAMS Program. Activities can include attendance at career fairs, participation in other TEAMS outreach efforts, or talking with friends and colleagues about the program.
